Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay. Today, not only is Earth Day a day meant to increase awareness of environmental problems, but it is also becoming a popular time for many communities to gather together to clean up litter, plant trees, or simply reflect on the beauty of nature. Further down the page, we’ve provided a list of activities and projects that you can do to improve your local environment! To emphasize the importance of earth in our life class II students started 3 day celebrations in school premises. Today 20/4/22 they celebrate it in a beautiful way by sung a song and take oath that they all become defenders of mother earth.

Hence, by taking a small step towards creating awareness regarding Environmental issues, DPS Gandhidhamhas conducted an “Intra-House Collage Making Competition” on 21st April, 2023 for All the Sections of Class V. This year the theme for Earth Day is “Invest in Our Planet.” It isfor bold action, innovation and changes to promote partnerships between business, society and governments so that we can ensure the survival of the planet for generations to come. Students as being enthusiastic performed various roles and responsibilities shared in the groups.

Parent Premier League (Season-3) [2023-24]

Parent Premier League-III is a popular domestic cricket tournament played by the talented parents of DPS Gandhidham. It is designed to be a platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their skills and compete against some of the best talent. This is the third successful league for the Parents. Overall, the Parent Premier League has played a significant role in the growth and development of the sport of cricket in the town. It has provided a platform for talent to develop their skills and has become a major source of entertainment for cricket fans.

EARTH DAY is celebrated around the world with a beautiful message - “Our continuing efforts in our everyday lives will make this beautiful planet thrive.” Earth Day is a proof that even one person can make a global impact in a positive way. Echoing the same, Delhi Public School , Gandhidham celebrated “The Earth Day” through a series of activities on 21st April 2023. Keeping in mind the theme “Invest in our Planet”, children indulged in different art activities where they made beautiful badges, headbands, slogans etc. The little ones also participated in the Slogan March Past to create maximum awareness and impact! Teachers added the finishing touch by addressing the students and emphasizing upon the importance of afforestation, planting of trees and the need for everyone to put together their efforts and get into action, in protecting our environment. EVS Activity : Your five senses — seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching — help you notice the world around you. They're pretty powerful! You use your eyes to see, your ears to hear, your nose to smell, your tongue to taste, and your skin to feel. Keeping with the theme of ‘My Body’ the five senses were introduced to the children of class II through demonstrations by the teachers and a variety of hands-on activities for the children to do.

Protecting and nurturing it is the best we can do for it and for us. Let's not destroy it for the sake of the next generations. “We are on earth to take care of life. We are on earth to take care of each other” On the occasion of "Earth Day" Delhi Public School, Gandhidham has conducted Elements of the Earth as a “Role Play “activity for our class III Masters. “ROLE PLAY ACTIVITY” As the name of the activity, Student played different Role on given topic and spoke few facts or lines on the (Topic like: Conserve water, Save trees, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Eat Sustainable Foods, Plant a tree, Give up Plastics, Use less electricity, Work to protect animals habitat and Walk, bike or take Public Transit), by showing different props like: Masks, Crown, Poster, Drawing, Attires etc. All students have participated in this Role Play activity and enjoyed the fun learning.

Book Mark Activity (Class-I) : Books are referred to as a man’s best friend. They are very beneficial for mankind and have helped it evolve. It is a powerhouse of information and knowledge. Books offer us so many things without asking for anything in return. It is vital to cultivate the habit of reading books, especially in kids. Reading books improves concentration and reading skills. To make students aware about the importance and advantages of books, a reading session and a book mark making activity was conducted in the class. Kids decorated their Book marks with colours and drawings.

My Family - Thumbprint Activity (Class-I)

Class-I - My Family - Thumbprint Activity on 28th April, 2023 : "Family is not just an important thing, it's everything that matters." A Family shapes the way we process our emotions and thoughts. Children share a special relationship with each member of their family. Family relationships not only shape kids view of the world and their surroundings but also give them the necessary tools for a successfully sailing throughout the life. To make students aware about the importance of relationships and about different kinds of families (nuclear/joint), we conducted a thumbprint activity in the class.It promotes the growth of the mind. It improves hand and finger strength, which benefits fine motor skills too. They also were able to identify different fingers as they have used them for printing family members with each finger.

World Labour Day - Card Making Activity (Class-I)

World Labour Day - 1st May, 2023 : "What the two hands of the labourer can achieve, the capitalist will never get with all his gold and silver." Labour is the most important factor of production. A nation having plenty of rich land but no labour force, cannot attain any economic development or prosperity. It is very important to educate our youth about hard work, perseverance and dedication of labour. We need to respect laborers, because they make their life hard so we can get comfort and an easy life. A card making activity was conducted in class to thank all those who have helped them. Students were excited to give the cards to the drivers, conductors, maids, etc.

A special assembly was conducted to pay tribute to the contribution and achievements of all workers who make our society a better place to live in. Thank you badges were given as a token of appreciation to all the support staff !! It was indeed a great great day of learning for all our little ones.

English Poem Recitation Competition of Class - I & II as on 15/07/2023

Poems try to express thoughts and feelings with the help of sound and rhythm. Poems and rhymes are the first learning tool and mind soother for a child. From a simple ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ to the sonnets of the great W. Shakespeare - poems inspire and form the childhood of students. Reciting poetry helps to make speech more fluent. We learn very quickly how to liaise the words in each lines, glide from one word to another without pausing. Poetry is closely related to musical instruments. Each line in a poem is bound by a meter and it has a certain rhythm. With a purpose of sharpening the poetic skills of children, an Intra class Poetry Competition was organized on 15th July, 2023. The students of Class I & II segments enthusiastically participated in the competition as they got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The competition inspired the young poets to come forward and recite on stage. The students came up with different poems on the theme ‘’NATURE’’ FOR CLASS I & ‘’INDIAN FESTIVALS’’ FOR CLASS II. All participants recited with great fondness and zeal for the nature and country. They enjoyed the perfection of expression, thoughts, emotions, rhythm and music of words.

A festival is an extraordinary event celebrated by a community and centering on some characteristic aspect or aspects of that community and its religion or cultures. It is often marked as a local or national holiday. Religious festivals often serve to fulfill specific communal purposes, especially in regard to commemoration or thanking to the gods, goddesses or saints. The National festivals include Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and more. All the citizens of the country celebrate them irrespective of the religion, caste and creed. Everyone celebrates them with great patriotism. To make the students aware of the importance and significance of festivals, a collage making activity was conducted in class. Different festivals were united on a piece of paper and became one as a country.

BLUE - Colour Day Celebration (Pre-Primary) [2023-24]

Blue – the colour of loyalty, strength, wisdom and trust had a very positive impact on tiny tots bringing in harmony! Pre- Primary Wing celebrated Blue Day on the 19th July 2023. Teachers along with the students were dressed in blue colour, students were made to recognize blue colour through different games and play-way activities. An array of blue coloured objects like umbrella, ball, cloud, car, soft toys etc. were at display thus providing the students opportunities to have a clear sense of the colour and its importance. The little ones of Pre- Nursery made wonderful Jelly Fish, Nursery children made a beautiful aquarium through cotton dabbing and a variety of fishes were crafted on it, While the Preparatory children got engaged in Palm printing and colouring etc. Blue Day was an amazing learning experience which had a long lasting effect on each student. Early identification of colours helped to create the cognitive link between visual clues and words which is an important part of a child’s development. It was indeed a visual treat to see the good effects of blue colour on our little ones.

Little Einsteins at Work 'World of Science' Activity of Pre-Primary as on 28/07/2023

Little Einsteins at Work #World is science !! The objective was to nurture student's intellectual ability, critical thinking skills, and to boost their confidence. Intending to cultivate scientific temperament and attitude among the children, the Pre-primary wing of Delhi Public School, Gandhidham organised a ‘World of Science’ activity on the 28th July, 2023 for the children where they performed various science experiments based on different concepts such as properties of air, float and sink, acid and base reaction etc. Children were amazed by various scientific tricks shown to them and the experiments which they conducted under the supervision of their teachers. The objective was to nurture students’ intellectual ability, critical thinking skills, and to boost their confidence.

''Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are." Class-II Subject-EVS Topic-Food Activity-Collage work on different types of food i.e Energy giving food, Body building food and protective food. With an objective to make students understand about types of food through experiential learning children of Grade-II performed an activity in the classroom - Collage work on different types of food. Students collected pictures related to each food group and pasted on chart papers as per different categories. Development of Interpersonal skills and peer learning was the main motive of the activity. Students learnt the importance of a balanced diet and having each type of nutrient in their plate. All the students showcased their enthusiasm and learning through the activity.

Topic : FOOD - Healthy food does not only impact our physical health but mental health too. When we intake healthy fruits and vegetables that are full of nutrients, we reduce the chances of diseases. For instance, green vegetables help us to maintain strength. We should eat food that has vitamins and minerals, and avoid junk food. If we eat healthily, we can live a long and happy life and perform our best. To make the above learning of healthy food fun, we conducted a vegetable printing activity integrated with art and motor skills. The students participated with excitement and zeal.

Topic-Clothes- "Clothes are not going to change the world, but the people wearing them surely will."- What to wear, when and why?? Clothing serves a social purpose for human beings just as food serves a health purpose. Clothing can insulate against cold or hot conditions, and it can provide a hygienic barrier, keeping infectious and toxic materials away from the body. It can protect feet from injury and discomfort. We wear different types of clothes according to the season. To explain the concept in a fun way, an activity was conducted elaborating what types of clothes are suitable for which season and for what reason.

'Life is a fabric intricately woven by the fibres of our experiences.' Class-II Day and Date : Thursday, 24th August, 2023 Topic-Clothes Theme : Different Types of Fibres Students of Grade 2 performed an interactive activity in the classrooms on the topic clothes ,theme was different types of fabrics. Students learned about different types of fabrics, their textures, and how they are used in everyday life. They had the opportunity to touch and feel various fabric samples, enhancing their sensory experience and understanding of the topic.The activity was a great learning experience for the students, allowing them to explore various aspects of fabrics and their uses in day to day life Students had great experiential learning through the activity.Students used their intrapersonal skills to feel , touch and understand the fibres and pasted the small cuttings of each type of fibres on a A4 size paper . They also categorised each fibre and named them. They also learned to distinguish natural and man - made fibres and pasted them in particular groups. They understood the difference between each types of fibre with their interpersonal and peer learning skills which was evident by their enthusiasm and zeal. The activity was a great success .It allowed students to explore various aspects of fabrics and their uses.During the activity, students learned about different types of fabrics, their textures, and how they are used in everyday life. They had the opportunity to touch and feel various fabric samples, enhancing their sensory experience and understanding of the topic. We believe that such hands-on activities greatly enhance the Learning.
